Hello, and welcome to my page. My name is Peter Teigen, I am a psychotherapist offering therapy in private practice. I am a member of the British Psychological Society (MBPSs), The United Kingdom Association of Gestalt Practitioners (UKAGP) and The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I work with a broad range of issues - some of which you can read more about within the pages on this site. Having said that, I believe it is not so much about the breadth of material which I cover that matters as much the way and the depth of how the work is carried out. For some clients the matters that are brought to therapy require pressing attention, sometimes because external pressures are involved. At other times, the work is set up to go on for longer from the beginning of therapy; to allow for whatever emerges to be looked at, explored, and attended to within a broader spectrum of my client's life, historically and in the here-and-now.
I am sometimes asked whether something is 'normal' or how things can be done differently. Whilst such questions have their answers, I regard the work of psychotherapy and counselling as such that we are here to explore what is and how things can be; so, when you need to decide which therapist to work with I suggest that you look for someone who strikes you as being a suitable explorer for you. Hence, it is the initial meeting that we have together which should determine whether or not you and I are suitably matched as therapist and client.
My contact details can be found on this site, you are welcome to contact me by email or telephone to make an initial enquiry with the view to set up an appointment.
